Maya was not fond of snow.
The only thing good about it was the clothing. She loved accessorizing with winter clothes, she always looked cute. From adorable coats to winter-themed makeup, she loved it. What she didn't love was the snow, and ice and water from melted snow that ruined her clothes.
When Maya looked out her cabin window after having a goodnight’s rest, she sighed and rolled back over in her bed groaning.
“Guys!” she yelled at some of her siblings who were making a commotion. Maya wasn't a morning person. She liked to sleep in, she needed her beauty rest, anyways. “Can you guys be quiet for one morning?!”
Her siblings giggled and scampered out the door. Maya could hear one of them mumble about having such a grumpy sister.
She rolled her eyes and finally got out of bed. The pink haired girl loved top bunk beds. It felt like she was on top of the world, she could see her whole cabin from up there. Sometimes at night, when she couldn't sleep, she and one of her sisters would have talks in the middle of the night. Times like those made Maya feel at home.
Maya wore a fluffy white hoodie with black jeans. She put blue fluffy ear muffs on and slipped on her black and light blue boots. Maya may not be an Athena kid, but she always was prepared.
Walking carefully outside, she sighed and slightly rolled her eyes as she heard the crunch of the snow under her boots. She could just imagine a few hours from now, waiting for her clothes and shoes to dry from the melted snow. It grimaced and continued to trudge through the snow. She shivered and hugged herself, trying to stay warm.
As she walked miserably around camp trying to find one of her friends to sit with her somewhere where there was heat, she surveyed her surroundings. Demigods of all ages were having snowball fights; making snow-people; building igloos and forts; and even some young campers tasting and colouring the snow. She chuckled to herself and continued on her mini snow adventure.
As she continued to plow through the white slush, she felt something cold hit her in the back. Maya lost her balance and slipped into the freezing snow. The ‘Dite gasped in anger and got up hastily and whipped around to see who had thrown the snowball. The pink haired ‘Dite spotted a group of snickering young demigods. She glared, but then thought of something.
“You think that's funny, eh? Well, I have a sense of humor too!” she said. Maya bunched up a handful of snow and Central Camp became Central Snow Fight. She laughed and giggled while getting hit in the face with icy snowballs.
When the sun began to set, all the campers scrambled to their cabins, trying their best to get there before dark, not wanting to run into a hungry harpy. Maya took her time walking to the Aphrodite cabin. She walked up the steps and before she entered her cabin, she took a moment to gaze at the magnificent and mesmerizing sunset. The sky was flooded with pinks, yellows, purples, and blues. She smiled to herself and now had a new appreciation for snow.
She got into bed and thought to herself, *Today was a snow day I will never forget.*
They say that time changes you, today, that was true for Maya.
