Welcome back to demigod delicacies! My name is still Anemone Maverick and I unsurprisingly will be your chef! Last week I reached to you, the viewers, to ask you what foods would be good in a fight!
My amazing dad, Ixion Maverick and I had a wonderful time trying them all out but in the end we had to choose a winner.
The submission that won is none other thannnn...
Lily Khloe's Lebkuchen!
I loved this submission because it was unique and I had to research what it was. Needless to say I was very pleased with the results. I also wanted to get into the Christmas spirit and Lebkuchen is used for Christmas traditions in Germany.
Of course I had to put a little magical spin on it and I was reminded of the gingerbread man story my mama used to tell me so without further ado, here's my recipe for Running Lebkuchens!
♥ ¾ cup brown sugar
♥ ½ cup honey
♥ 1 egg
♥ ½ cup dark molasses
♥ 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
♥ 1 ¼ teaspoons ground nutmeg
♥ 1 ¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon
♥ ½ teaspoon ground cloves
♥ ½ teaspoon ground allspice
♥ ½ teaspoon baking soda
♥ ½ cup slivered almonds
♥ ¼ teaspoon finely chopped dryad mint
♥ ½ cup candied mixed fruit peel, finely chopped
♥ Cookie/Baking sheets
Please remember to ask the dryad for permission before grabbing their mint!
Now, with Lebkuchen you need to chill your dough overnight so I am going to be using already chilled dough but making it is very easy!
Before I explain, I would like to invite Lily Khloe herself to watch me and taste the lebkuchens when they are done.
First, beat the brown sugar, honey, and egg in a large bowl with an electric mixer or a spatula until smooth. Then you add in your molasses.
Combine all the spices, baking soda and the mint in a seperate bowl. Chop your mint very finely since it's what helps your lebkuchens run.
Finally, combine both bowls together and add the almonds and candied fruit peel. Once everything is combined into nice bouncy dough, put it in the fridge to chill overnight.
Once you take the dough out in the morning, preheat your oven to 400F/200C. Grease your cookie/baking sheets. Roll out your cookie dough and cut out any shapes you want!
"Oooh, this is very exciting. I'm horrible at cooking and can only just manage baking but you seem to have a talent for it!" Lily said as she observed Anemone.
Hehe, thank you Lily!
Then put them on your sheets and pop them into the oven for around 10 to 12 minutes! When they are done, put them on a cooling rack and then ice them anyway you want!
As soon as you finish icing them, they should start running around and will attack anyone you tell them to! Really useful in a fight! However, as soon as you catch one of them they stop moving and you can eat them.
Would you like to taste them, Lily?
"Hmm, This Lebkuchen has incredible texture! I think it's one of the best I’ve ever had! I love it!" Lily complimented after finishing her piece.
Thank you so much! That's all for this week everyone! Feel free to IM me any other recipes you want me to try. Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Anemone Maverick
