Snout Squad

-Part 1-

Hello there fellow demigods! I'm Nicole the expert paw, that is, I'll give you facts and advice about one pet that you can have IRL or IG. There are those who argue that owning a pet is nothing but trouble and mess. They are, of course, right. Pets do make a mess, they do chew your favourite shoes, they do require walking and cleaning and, yes, you do have to deal with their poo. BUT .There is much satisfaction to be had from looking after another creature - especially if it happens to be a bouncy puppy or a cuddly guinea pig and in some cases a hellhound pup.

History

The first cats are thought to have lived 8.000 years ago in Cyprus. The Romans introduced them to Britain. They had a horrible time in the Middle Ages when they were associated with witches and the devil and were often tortured and burned. Nowadays, they are very popular as pets. although there is some rivalry between cat people and dog people .

About

Cats are independent, elegant and inscrutable. They do not have the pack mentality of dogs, and tend to meet all their own basic needs. They are brilliant hunters, using the same tactics as leopards and tigers, and can catch and kill birds, mice and even scorpions and grasshoppers. They then like to present these trophies to their owners which can be a bit of a shock. They are carnivores and can be fussy eaters . They love to play with string, or a ball, especially if it has a bell in it. Although discerning, they can be incredibly affectionate. Unlike dogs, they do not need taking for a walk, which means they are ideal pets for the city .

Types

Cats come in many different types. Most common are the tabby, which is striped, often with white nose and paws: the tortoiseshell, which has patches of many different colours on its fur, the ginger cat and the lucky black cat Sometimes mixed breeds like this are called moggies. Famous pedigree cats include the Burmese which has silky fur wonderful amber eyes, and comes in every colour from deep chocolate brown to lilac: the Siamese, an aristocratic cat with what are called blue points (tail, paws and face); and of course the Persian cat, with its luxuriant long hair.
