Everybody has a wish, and even though it may depend on person to person, wishes oftentimes are a person’s deepest desires. After all, there is a reason why you want a certain thing to come true. Even though wishes may drive you forward, sometimes some people just wish for certain things but don’t actively work towards them- and this is where their fault lies.

Let’s take a look at Nico, for example. After Bianca died and after the events of The Last Olympian, Nico went back to the Underworld to see if he could find his sister, wishing that he could rescue her from the events prior to the Son of Neptune (the dead returning to the realm of the living). However, instead of finding Bianca, he found Hazel instead and gave her another chance at life. Nico’s perseverance is very strong, due to his loyalty to Bianca- he kept trying to find ways to bring Bianca back to life after her untimely death, and he took those actions all while wishing for her to come back.

Additionally, in The Last Olympian, Percy uses his one wish gifted by the gods to claim and recognize the children of the minor gods. Ethan Nakamura worked to get to this goal, and although he went about it the wrong way, he eventually got the outcome he wanted, dying in the process as he wanted a better world for the children of minor gods.

Hoping for something to happen might actually have a good outcome even if you don’t do anything, but more times than not, that’s not the case. Generally, you need to work towards it, but even that sometimes can feel hard and make your goal, and that’s completely understandable. Everybody always has that little bump in their path that just gets in their way. But know this- you can get through anything, as long as you have the determination to push through.

There’s always somebody out there who is hoping you’ll succeed, and remember that you are the one who makes your wishes happen. So don’t drag yourself down thinking that it’s impossible to do something because there’s always a chance to achieve it.
