Meeting Camp Half-blood

Amedeo Strumheller

Smiley face

Hello for those that don’t know me I’m Emrys Fernandinho, welcome to World of Olympians and Camp Half-blood. Our blog series is about different staff members around Camp Half-blood. Many people have wondered about jobs and what they, do. We are with our very own Amedeo Strumheller son of Hades and Archive Master.

Hello. I have to say your bigger up close, like a superhero. Introductions right, I am Emrys Fernandinhoo, daughter of Hecate. I do like what you've done so far with the library sometimes I'm quietly reading a book. Other times are cuddling pets. I will get back to that later. I'd like to know more about you as a camper. What would you like to share about who you are?

*laughs* Well, thank you, I will entirely take that as a compliment. Hello, Emrys , daughter of Hecate, I am Amedeo Strumheller, son of Hades and I'm glad you like the library books we've set up for everyone. We've worked to provide quality and pleasing books to the camp. It's nice to see someone appreciate it.

As a camper hm. I think most people get the wrong first impression of me. Maybe it is because of my looks or just me in general, but most campers tend to stay away from me, even back then when I first came into camp. I must admit, I am on the quieter side when it comes to personality; I rarely open my mouth, but if people got to know me better, I'm actually not too bad. If I do say so myself. I prefer to be called, Deo than Amedeo , cause that shit is too damn long and too damn weird. My hobbies include long walks around camp, sparring, and training. I was also very fond of capture the flag as a youngster. Although id have to say that the library and books will always be my first love.

I know its probably odd seeing a huge dude with a book, but it happens. Hmm. What else? I'm pretty great with a spear an ax and a staff. I'm also a good amount of athletic, and I hate losing.

My mom enrolled me in mixed martial arts as a young kid when we were living in San Francisco, so it helped me as a camper with training and several classes. Speaking of classes, my favorites were Basic Survival, Forgery, and Armoury, Archery, Monsters 101 and Combat.

I did martial arts before coming to camp. Jujitsu and Taichi are my favorites. I'm looking forward to learning more in combat. History, Medical Training, Monsters 101 and Combat are my favorites. I like trying to do all the classes.

Did all of them as well. But I really sucked at arts and crafts and astronomy. But I still try and do the best I can no matter how shitty of a job I do. *chuckles*

Do you have any favorite foods that you like?

Favorite foods? I have a ton. I'm a big foodie, but I would say my go too would be anything seafood. Sushi, seafood paella, crabs, crawfish, tuna, salmon. Speaking of salmon, have you ever tried crab covered salmon? Its goddamn amazing.

Crab covered salmon? Can't say that I have. I do love seafood though. I don't like crawfish. Have you had blackened catfish and dirty rice?

I haven't! Although, it does sound delicious. I might just have blackened catfish and dirty rice after this interview.

What's your favorite book or series of books?

Books. Oh damn, which to choose, there are so many...The Grimm's Fairytales are always a great choice. The Lord of the Rings and Frankenstein.

I haven't read The Lord of the Rings yet. I’ve read The Little Mermaid. by Hans Christian Andersen, The Last Unicorn, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

I would definitely suggest The Lord of the Rings, The Little Mermaid and Chronicles of Narnia. They're books that deserve to be read more than once, and you won't get tired of them.

I think Monsters 101 is the much better book than Fantastic Beasts.

I agree though. I absolutely think that Monsters 101 is the darker version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Last Unicorn is by Peter S. Beagle if you ever get a chance.

ooh *looks it up* I totally will get into that pretty soon.

Is there a special person in your life Deo?

As much as I would like to say, "yes," unfortunately, there isn't anyone special right now. Apart from my half-siblings of course and my mother

What do you do as an Archive Master? Do you have a team, staff or minions? What is expected of those that work under you? Say someone was wanting a job...

An Archive Master tends to the Camp library, also called scroll keepers. My team is composed of 6 scroll keepers, and our job is to make sure that the library is fully stocked with interesting and educational books which can be used for all the classes within the camp. Of course, it takes a lot of time, and hard work to be a part of my team-- seeing as we do a lot of research, writing, and coding, for those who want to join and sign up, hard work, patience, and love for the job is basically all you need. It does take up a lot of your time, but it is all worth it when you see others appreciate what you've made and thank you for it.

Are there any details that I may have missed that you want to share about your job or you?

Not really. I think you hit this interview out of the park. I just want everyone to come join in and feel comfortable with me as an Archive Master and come join my team as well. That's all! I only look scary. Well, maybe that's just slightly true *laughs*

Thank you for joining me. I'm glad for this opportunity to get to know you better.

Im glad you gave me an opportunity. It was fun, I have to say.
