In which we go over the untaught essentials of surviving life as a demigod- from the good to the ugly.

Hello and welcome back to the second edition of the Scrappy Survival Guide! This edition we'll be focusing on to stay hidden to monsters while on a quest or simply out of camp. As a demigod, you give off this magical scent that's delicious to monsters; children of the Big Three give off a stronger scent. You may as well be wearing a GPS and saying "I'm here!" Today, I will be giving my best advice as to not end up as a monster's next meal. Remember that I am not a survival expert, and while this info may prove to be useful, that you should keep in mind your Basic Survival classes at camp.

My first advice is to ditch the bright, orange "Camp Half-Blood" shirt that you have. Not only will you stick out like a sore thumb, you'll receive dirty looks for your fashion choice. You'll see that while wearing neutral colors, it's easier to blend into crowds. In more forest type of settings, you'll also blend into the enviroment. The last thing you want to be is a bright beacon of horrid fashion sense and emit a tasty smell. Trade in the orange for earthy hues and for something that will also keep you warm during the night. Blend in like you were never even there.

Unless you immediately have to get to your destination, or you have a quick way to get there (e.g. plane or train), then go ahead and take the quickest route. However, if you're traveling by foot, try to get used to traveling at night. For younger teenagers who can't quite pass off as full-fledged adults yet, you'll be less likely to be seen during the night than in board daylight. During the day, while traveling alone, you are prone to questions from regular, nosy mortals or police and authority. By questions, I mean like, "Why is a small human walking along the highway?" And just like that, you'll be in the backseat of a police vehicle because "you need to have an accompanying guardian."

Now back to that scent we give off. Before you realize that you are a demigod, your scent to monsters will be much weaker than post demigod realization. However, if you're reading this, chances are that method of concealment no longer works. That's okay - there are some other ways! First and foremost, avoid regular mortal school, or just large crowds of school children. A majority of monster occurances happen there since that's where, before Camp Half-Blood, that demigods spend most of their time at. Chances are monsters in the area surrounding the school district are aware and better safe than sorry.

If you absolutely cannot escape crowds for whatever reason, just stick to less populated ones, with people around your age. You can also mask this scent by traveling with regular mortals, as their scent may override yours. Though, I don't reccommend always depending on this method One, crowds won't be everywhere. Two, remember that you probably look like you haven't properly washed in a week or two if you're out on a quest.

Lastly, avoid cellphones. If you must, and I repeat must use one, then go ahead and use it. Monsters can sense this as well, and I hope this information isn't new to you. Just don't casually be whipping your cellphone out to call your camp mom or dad - there are Iris Messages for that reason. Some technology won't give off a signal to monsters though. We know that magical technologies such as mechanical dragons and Daedaelus' laptop were fine to be used casually. Tape players are also fine to carry around. Celestial Bronze is also effective in blocking out the signals that phones and such emit. So if you want to, invest in a Celestial Bronze phone case and laptop holder. Stylish and monster destroying!

That's all for today folks! I hope you stuck around long enough to learn something new today. Always remember your cherished memories in camp education and brace yourselfs before setting out. With that concluded the second edition of the Scrappy Survival Guide.
